    Use the Rhodotron® to sterilize boxes of Medical Devices

    The Rhodotron offers the highest level of performance because of several unique advantages.

    • It has the highest sterilization capacity: up to 250.000 m3/year
    • Thanks to its very precise power tuning, it has the most accurate dose setting
    • Its unique design offers the best electrical efficiency at full beam power as well as the lowest maintenance costs.

  • Medium Energy E-beam :

Introducing X-ray Sterilization |

All the flexibility of gamma sterilization with none of the disadvantages of cobalt irradiation

X-rays are electromagnetic photons emitted when high-energy electrons strike any material. They can therefore be produced by an electron accelerators similar to those used in IBA’s E-beam product line. IBA the worldwide leader in  this type of electron accelerator applied its E-beam technology to develop an innovative X-ray sterilization solution.

  • Full pallet sterilization: IBA’s X-ray sterilization system facilitates the treatment of full pallet loads. This is possible since, when produced using electrons with 5 MeV (or 7,5 MeV) of energy, the X-rays are more penetrating than the gamma rays from Cobalt 60 sources. Moreover, unlike gamma rays, high-energy X-rays are concentrated in the forward direction.
  • Uniform dose: this innovative ionization method provides a more uniform dose throughout packages so as to prevent damage and waste from over-radiation.
  • Optimized production process: since dose is highly adjustable, the IBA X-ray sterilization system also simplifies the transition from one type of product to another that has a different density or a different dose requirement.

IBA E-beam and X-ray sterilization systems are safe and respect the environment.

  • Safety is a major advantage of E-beam and X-ray in comparison with other approaches to sterilization. No volatile gas, no carcinogenic residues and no radioactive material to transport or dispose of.
  • The electron accelerators and related equipment are fully shielded to protect the workers and the outside environment. Moreover as with any electrical equipment, the electron accelerators can be shut down at any time. When the accelerator is off, it is completely safe to enter the irradiation area and work anywhere near the equipment
